Placing a Bet
🧾 Placing a Bet
Once your wallet is connected and funded with USDC on Base, you're ready to place your first prediction!
PredictBase lets you bet on real-world outcomes — like the price of Bitcoin, sports results, tech product launches, and more.
🎯 What You’re Betting On
Each market contains:
A question (e.g., “Will ETH be above $3,000 on May 1st?”)
A set of options (e.g., “Yes” or “No”)
The current odds for each option
Total volume and time remaining
You place your USDC on the outcome you believe will happen.
🪜 Step-by-Step: How to Place a Bet
Browse markets on https://predictbase.app
Click on a market to open its detail view
Select your prediction option (e.g., “Yes”)
Enter the amount of USDC you want to bet
Click Place Bet
Approve the transaction in your wallet
🔄 First-Time Approval
When placing your first bet, you’ll be asked to approve USDC for use with the PredictBase smart contract.
This is a one-time approval
It allows the contract to securely transfer your USDC when betting
Once approved, all future bets will only require a single transaction.
📈 How Odds Work
PredictBase uses a dynamic odds model based on the proportion of total volume staked on each option.
If more users bet on "Yes", the odds for "No" increase
Your potential payout = (Total pool * your share of chosen option)
This means odds can change in real time — even while you're entering your bet.
📋 Example
Market: Will BTC be over $70,000 on May 1st? Total volume: $1,000 You bet: $50 on "Yes" Total "Yes" volume: $250 Total "No" volume: $750
Your payout if correct = $50 / $250 * $1000 = $200
